Surface & Conditions/Challenges
The surface varies between dirt and the gravel of the old rail bed. Challenges include many fence crossings. There may be a gate or barbed wire fence in place. We are in the process of getting them removed. Please close gates after passing through.
Some low areas which hold water and mud after rains. Ruts are n some areas even when dry. Vegetation growth can be heavy and high in Spring, Summer and early Fall. Please be aware of poison ivy, some tree encroachments and low branches in places.
Seven (7) bridges are open crosstie and there are some ties in poor condition or missing. These should be walked very carefully. Please do not attempt to ride on these bridges. One (1) bridge partially burned. Some approaches are not in good condition.

The public is asked to contact the person listed for each trail town to make reservations for camping. A complete list of campsites and contact information is posted on the NETT website. There are no campsites listed for Ben Franklin.
